Yes, it’s that time of year again…I’m not sure what drug 2016 was on, but it feels like only a couple of months ago I was planning my goals for the year (most of which, I am now frantically trying to cram into the month of December).
But with Christmas fast approaching (less than 10 weeks, to be precise!) I thought what better way to get into the festive spirit than whacking on some absolute tunes! Us Foxes love that time of the year where we can add a few Crimbo numbers into the set and see everyone sing and dance with such joy (and on that note, if you are looking for the perfect Christmas Party Band, we would absolutely love to perform for you)!
So here are my personal top 5 Christmas songs of all time (not gonna lie, this was pretty damn tough).
5. Chris Rea – Driving Home For Christmas
That gravelly voice……enough said.
4. Wizzard – I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday
This was a personal fave as a kid, as I really did want it to be Christmas everyday. I’ve got to admit, it’s also one I enjoy in the pub on Christmas Eve when everyone’s had far too many mulled wines and starts hugging and singing to complete strangers. Totally feeling the love! (Orrrr that’s just me? Okay then….)
3. Darlene Love – Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
This is an absolute tune! It just makes me SO happy. When it comes on I instantly start bouncing around the room like a baby goat in Spring….I also, absolutely love Mariah’s version as well (well, she is the Queen of everything…)
2. Nat King Cole – The Christmas Song
This song is just stunning. It’s one of those where I just want to curl up in front of the fire, in me jim jams, with a hot choccy and listen to the soothing dulcet tones of Nat King Cole all evening. AND NOW FOR NUMBER 1! CAN YOU GUESS WHAT IT IS YET….
1. Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas
It was obvious wasn’t it? But you just can’t beat it. Every single year without fail there has been at least one occasion where I have missed my junction on the motorway because I’ve been too busy getting my Mariah on. Like, seriously, who doesn’t love it?! And then that moment when that insanely talented girl sang it in Love Actually and, as a young hormonal adolescent, I didn’t know whether I wanted to stand up and sing along, cry or throw my life’s belongings at the cinema screen in a jealous rage, simply because I wanted her life…
To conclude, I believe Christmas songs make the world a better place. So get those tunes on, people, spread the love and have an epic Christmas!
